Catapult to the Top

Have you ever wondered to speed up your path to success?

One of the smartest things you can do is to learn from someone else, someone who has already accomplished what it is that you are setting out to do. You MUST learn learn learn from someone who has traveled the road upon which you wish to go.

Thank god I practice what I preach (I mean teach!). I inundate myself with books and audio recordings (my car is traveling PDU — personal development university), and I take courses constantly. The list of what I have learned from who (whom?) is rather extensive, and if you’re into reading these dull lists, see my About Britt page, and check out my Books page — which is a list of books that I have personally read and endorse.

One of the most life-changing courses I ever took (and the course BTW that put me on my current path), is a local course taught here by an organization called Wealth by Design. They have a moneymatters bootcamp, and it offered to change our MENTAL relationship with money. My husband took the first-ever course, and I took the second. From there, armed with an alternative mindset, we catapulted into a new life.

Where we will land is still up in the air (I’m work with the analogy here), but it will be close to our destination. Funnily enough, I was at the Wealth by Design Expo just this Saturday, and one of their speaker’s made reference to mid-air adjustments. We are doing those too! Grin.

Life on our new path has been FAR from perfect. Failures abound. But having said that, the FIRST thing a pre-toddler does when she sets out to walk for the first time, she falls; the second thing she does is … falls; the third thing she does is … you guessed it … falls. Anyone watching an infant learning to walk knows that black and blue is their new and temporary natural skin tone.

Anything that you do for the first, second, third time is destined to fail (Colonel Sanders failed 1009 times in trying to sell his recipe; Edison failed anywhere from 200 – 2000 times with his lightbulb — depends who you read; while most of us give up on the first, second, if not third failure!).

Anyways, I’m not hear today to harp about failure (though it is my favorite topic!). I’m hear today to talk about learning, and how learning can shape your destiny. How it can CHANGE your destiny.

Once you have identified your passion and your niche, it’s time to get busy building buddies aka mentorship relations.

My next “speed injection” will be from Patrick Snow, author of Create Your Own Destiny.

I say “speed injection” as I have taken what Isaac Newton said to heart: “If I have seen further it is only by standing on the shoulders of giants.” I will learn from Patrick, who is only three degrees away Napoleon Hill, and four away from Andrew Carnegie. from That, my friends, is the power of mentoring! Find someone who has achieved what you want, and then learn from them.

Over the next few months, watch me grow new wings, flutter, fall, and get back up again. Rince and Repeat a few times. And then succeed. And flourish. And explode into the world.

The question you must ask yourself is: Do you want to climb the ladder to success, rung by rung, or do YOU want to catapult to the top, and reach new peaks and heights, more than you ever imagined?

I’ll take the latter, not the ladder!

So, shall I see YOU at the top too? Who can you find to mentor with? Better yet, who in your MIND would you like to mentor with? Set your sights high!

To your trip to the top,

Britt Santowski

Do your lenses need a cleaning?

Magic is truly everywhere. The real question is, Can you see it?

Without interpretation, everything is … well, it just is. Weather, for example. Weather is. It’s either raining or it sunny, cold and snowy or warm and balmy. If we welcome the sun, then a sunny day means it’s GOOD. If we welcome the rain, as in a farmer’s drought, then a sunny day means it’s BAD. Same day, different lens.

I used to watch Disney movies with one kind of feminist lens: The princesses were all these skinny little elfin like things that depended entirely on a prince to rescue them and provide them with a “happily for ever after.”

I now watch Disney with a completely different lens. Consider Cinderella. She thinks positive thoughts in spite of a life-style modification that the feint of heart would not be able to withstand. She endures constant criticisms and barking commands with a song and a few home-made little friends up in her attic room. Even the cat, who disdains her, Cinderella treats with fairness.

And above all else, Cinderella believes she is destined for greatness.

The true crisis of Cinderella’s mindset comes after her first dream is dashed. The home-made friends’ efforts of producing a ball-quality gown are dashed as the step-sisters shred Cinderella’s dress, and with it, her dreams. Cinderella runs to the garden crying, bemoaning her fate and saying that she has given up all hope that she will achieve her great dreams.

That’s when a little voice (fairy god mother, aka FGM) says, Really, my child? for if that were so I wouldn’t be here.

And that’s when the magic begins.

Magic is really truly all around us. The very fact that we have fully functional body WITH NO ONE AT THE DRIVER’S seat is actually incredibly mind boggling, don’t you think? I mean, really, how many times have you through thought kept your heart beating, or your blood flowing all through the right veins and arteries, or your cells rejenerating? Ummmm, never? You’re body is on auto-pilot. And it’s a stinking miracle!

Or consider this: Think of a childhood memory. Remember a distinct moment. Mine is when I was five, mesmorized watching these ants coming and going from their ant hill. We lived in the inner city, so dirt and sand was our front yard. Remember the smell of the moment. The weather. Who you were with. The sound you heard. Now … ready for the magic? As much as you think you were really there, guess what? You weren’t! Not one single cell in your body that you possess today actually existed. So all the experiences you hold on to now exist only in your thoughts. That is the one thread that ties you back to what actually may have happened 10, 20, or 40 years ago.

Or consider this: On a clear and starry night, go out and contemplate the heavens. And while you are thinking that this moment is real and here and now, guess what, it isn’t. The light from some of  the stars you are seeing have travelled for 800 Billion (that rights, with a B) years prior to the image being seared upon your pupil. That star you are looking at right now may have ceased to exists, millions to billions of years ago. So when you look into the heavens, you can NEVER see what is, only what was.

Is your mind boggled yet? :) These are the things I sometimes think about when I get so caught up in an insignificant problem like my business maybe failing and oh dear, I may have to start all over again.

If you look for magic, you will find it. I guarantee you this!

To your success my friend!

Let Go of Perfectionism! It’s an Entrepreneurs Anchor and Chain.

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Good morning, women! Today, I’m going to offer you something different. Today this blog will feature a sound track that runs for about 3:23 minutes — short and sweet — where I talk about letting go of perfectionism.

Take a good look around you. Everything you see comes from someone’s vision and pursuit of that vision, and as you use each object in your life, as sure as day, there is something that can be improved about that object.

Your job as an entrepreneur, woman, is to get the product or service out there, and then tweak it to your heart’s content. But if you wait for perfection, then your dream, your vision, your drive will NEVER see the light of day.

Anyway, having ranted, here’s the piece. It’s an MP3. Just click on the link to the right and enjoy! As I let go of perfection

ADDED LATER THAT SAME DAY…

Below is a video from TED tv, that kind of puts perfectionism into it’s proper scale. (If you can’t see the video below, go here). Watch this, and suddenly you will find that letting go of the inane notion of perfectionism is really incredibly easy!
